Oh, no, no mixed feelings. Pure sorrow. That school was my dream home, leaks and boiler and all. And Upham was the only place I've ever lived where I had actual friends, social life, community. It was wonderful.
But oh, well. Now we live in a very modern townhouse within sound of the freeway; and soon we'll move yet again, to the aforementioned farmlet, which will doubtless be very nice. At least it has a garden.
Your mentee is a bit of a job, isn't he? Perhaps the Borg will do him good. Lawl. Poor brat. He may learn to appreciate you. It's not many who acquire an unconditional friend along the way.
Haven't looked at the new Kindle. Still use my Rocket with some regularity, though I haven't yet found the cradle and software to attach it to this computer so I could download the particular books I want to read right now. Oh, well. I recently acquired a copy of Steven Gould's Jumper: Griffin's Story and am devouring it in my spare moments. Maybe by the time I'm through that, I'll have found the Rocket stuff.
Do by all means send me your new email address. You never know, I could get a fit of staying-in-touch before it changes again.
