"Shade"
Those of you who don't read Eat Our Brains may be unaware that Tor.com has published Steven Gould's short story "Shade" on the Web for our reading pleasure. Check it out. It's delightful.

You're welcome. I do, too. I was thrilled about the movie, even though imo it's pretty awful, because it brought the books to people's attention, and they're bound to like them and look up his other works.

I saw that in the Tor newsletter this morning. Haven't read it yet, but I'm sure it will be a good read.

It is a good read. I love the Jumper world. And as [info]sartorias says, this has all the warmth and character of the books that was so sadly missing from the movie.

I've been resisting the movie, tho hubbby wants to see it. Of course, he doesn't know the book, so he will probably like it.

My honey, who usually likes plot-free action-adventure movies, found this one too flat and empty. OTOH he does like the books, so may have been influenced.

I did think the movie would seem too shallow even to those who don't know the books. Though it does have wonderful FX, and it is pretty cool to see their idea of how all those teleportation tricks would look. I enjoyed that aspect.

Mine, too. Can't tell you how many times we finish watching a movie and he'll say: That was pretty good. And I just give him a look, to which he responds: You didn't like it. No, dear, I did not. I generally prefer movies (or books or whatever) to have at least a vague idea of a story! LOL
