Zafu
I didn't mention here that I got a new zafu as a solstice gift. I had been using the Salubrion chair, which I thought wonderful when I got it, but which has become more and more difficult to use as we are farther and farther from Hawaii and all the limbering behaviors (swimming, beach combing, swimming, etc.) one does there. I'm getting old.

So now I have a wonderful zafu, and I cannot tell you how much more comfortable it is. It is a splendid thing for an old person. Yay!

I don't know what counts as old, these days. I don't actually feel like a "senior citizen," and for some purposes I don't even qualify as one yet, but when I was a child people became "old" around thirty (Truly! And they permed their hair and started wearing old lady shoes), and I'm more than twice that.

When I was twenty I didn't see why anyone would want a special seat for meditation. You just sit down, cross your legs, and you're set, right? LOL. Not at my age.

The zafu is a splendid thing.

I usually quote Bon Jovi: "I'm not old, just older" Tho I do know some young'uns who complain about being "old" when they hit 25! Yeah, see me when you've hit twice that plus a few! Age is a matter of mind over matter: if you don't mind, it don't matter. And, of course, it does help that I simply refuse to grow up!

Age is only numbers.

Growing up is something else again. I have my daughter's specific permission not to grow up till I'm 84-1/2 ... and I plan to renegotiate when the time comes.
