Leveling Skills in WoW
My main on the Alliance side is a herbalist-alchemist, with her skills maxed at 300, but no problem: although she's not quite old enough for the Outlands (where she can upgrade her skills), there's no real rush about it. She can pick all the herbs she can find, and execute all the recipes she has been able to buy, and that's what matters.
My main on the Horde side is a skinner-miner with his skills maxed at 300. He can mine everything he can find, but skinning is becoming a problem: he's already killing mobs that present difficulty skinning, with repeated failures. I hadn't intended to take him to the Outlands till he was 60, because it seems scary and I'm just in no hurry: there's plenty to do where we are. But ouch. Why is this happening? I don't understand. In the Olden Days, before BC, 300 was the max anybody could get at any skill. Did characters at level 60 have to leave lvl-60 mobs lying around unskinned, or what?
I don't WANT to go to the Outlands early. But my horde main is a hunter. He routinely kills things three and four levels higher than he. At this rate he'll be unable to skin his kills long before he's 58, which as I understand it is theoretically the youngest it's reasonable to go to the Outlands. [sigh] I hate leaving things unskinned.
